It's Baby Picture Day!!!!

I thought today I'd show you how good I'm beginning to look! I'll probably be skinny and underweight until I get done feeding all these kids. But my fur is just shining now. Mom or Dad brush me out everyday and boy does that feel good!
Me and mom have been having a struggle as I keep trying to move my babies out of the cage. So we agreed to compromise! During the daytime I get the hallway foyer all closed off for just us and at night we go back in the cage. My little ones are trying so hard to walk and their shaky wee legs need to gain some strength. They are now about 14 days old.

See how pretty I am..how could those other people just abandon me?

And all they want to do is eat, eat, eat

The furball mosh pit

Most of all Thank you God for keeping us fat and full

So that's my babies :) Hope you like them!

Oh My! All the Help!

We had a busy first week at our new house. Mom and Dad bought a large parrot cage that measures 2 1/2 feet wide x 4 feet long x 4 feet tall. They put a soft, new mattress cover on the floor of the cage, a new bed and all kinds of goodies for us.

We were fortunate to meet with John McTaggart, of Lily's Love Foundation who has provided the extra food my folks needed to care for me (there are already 3 indoor cats, an older dog and a very large breed puppy living here). His foundation is a true act of love, helping those who may be in jeopardy of giving up their pets because they can't afford to feed them due to financial difficulties. In our case the extra meals I really needed were straining the family budget very tightly. If you ever care to make a donation to a superior worthwhile organization, please consider Lily's Love. John is truly one of a kind! He even makes the delivery! Now how cool is that! At Lily's Love they have Gabe’s Gang Pet Soup Kitchen which offers free and low-cost pet food to families in financial crisis. They have the Gracie Grant Program that offers families in temporary financial crisis grants to help cover the costs of life-saving veterinary treatments and procedures. These grants are offered as an alternative to euthanasia when pets face a treatable, yet life-threatening condition. Unfortunately this program is not accepting new applications at this time because they have already exceeded their budget which is funded by private donations. And then, wait! there's more! Toby’s Toy Box is aimed at providing families in temporary economic hardship pet supplies and services at reduced prices or, in some cases, at no cost at all. I really love John for giving me 30 cans of Fancy Feast.

Mom set up the Chip In page to help pay for me and the babies to go to the vet for our exam and blood work, to buy us food and basic supplies, to have us all dewormed, and the spay/neutering of the 6 of us (not feeling real good about that but we'll see). I guess I do eat a lot :) 4 cans of Fancy Feast Kitten food made with milk a day, I get milk replacement several times a day, a scrambled egg with cheese and yogurt twice a day plus hard kitten kibble. After living on garbage my tummy's never felt this good or this full!

On June 18th, me and the kittens made the trip to the vet for blood work and a physical exam. It was the first time mom held me in her arms and I loved it! I purred and snuggled in..now this I like. Got thru the blood work fairly easy and they said I was negative for feline leukemia, aids and heart worm. All I know is that I was getting put in my new nursery which was great cause my 5 wee ones opened their eyes on the 17th and they are a squiggly mess. Here I am in my new bed! Oh yea, there's one of my kids :) I forgot the most important part! I have 3 little boys and 2 little girls :)

Want to see a close up of my kids? Sure you do!

OK one more picture then I have to go

Today we feel like we are truly blessed by all our friends whether new or old. The outpouring of love for us has been unbelievable. May God bless you ten times over..no make that 100 times over. You have made one very lonely and scared young momma feel safe and loved. I'll no longer be scrounging for food, hiding from predators or trying to keep the bugs off my kittens. Super big hugs to you all. Until tomorrow...

Lucy and her Babies Chip in Page...to cover vetting, food and basic costs

I started this chip in page initially on June 16,2010 in hopes that if anyone could spare just one dollar we could get the funds needed to get Lucy moved inside. Well that happened within hours! She needed to be tested for feline leukemia before she could be exposed to our 3 indoor kitties. We needed to raise the 30.00 for this asap as the weather was going was going to be 90 that weekend plus her little nest was getting pretty full of bugs. The remaining funds will be used to have Lucy and her babies have a physical exam, deworming, and all spayed and neutered. We will keep Lucy with us as we know her history and are slowly gaining her trust. The babies will only be adopted out to screened households that promise to totally care and keep the kitty indoors at all times. As of June 25, 2010 we have already spent over $350.00. We never had any idea of how expensive this adventure would be..but we would not change a thing! Lucy is here to stay thanks to all of you! Lucy, Mary & Russ all thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I wasn't loved so I left

My name is Lucy and I'm a Bengal cat. I'm starting this blog to show you how you how important people are to a cat's health and well-being and how much it really means that you care.

My original owners bought me as an investment, had me front declawed but not spayed as they planned to use me as a breeding machine. For reasons I can't tell you I wanted to leave that house. I escaped a couple of times and made my final break back in late winter. I was hungry, thirsty and lonely. I ate garbage and food put out for squirrels and birds. I tried to catch birds to eat but was unable to because of no claws.

Then, I met my new mom and dad. They tried to catch me for weeks but I was just too scared to be caught. My previous owners showed little interest in getting me back saying they were too busy. But my new parents watched for me and I knew it. They have 2 big dogs, Sofy and Joey, and even though they didn't know me I still felt safe enough to keep going into their backyard. I'll tell you more about my new brothers and sisters later on.

On June 12th, 2010 I had my first litter of kittens. I went to the only place I felt safe. On June 13th, my new dad found me in their basement window well with my 5 new babies. I got to tell you I was terrified. I didn't know for sure how I would be treated. This is the day I was found.

I was sure that this was going to be just like my other house where I wasn't important enough to be cared about. But new mom and dad checked on me every hour. They brought me fresh food and water many times through the day and nite. Somebody really cared about me and my babies. It took me just a little while to feel more confident and I even let mom feed me.

So every day I learned to love my new parents although I was still a little bit shy. Little did I know that they were making plans to move me inside! Inside THEIR house! And they even gave up their bedroom for me and my babies. They bought me a huge cage, lined it with a soft mattress pad and a brand new bed. But I couldn't move in yet..they said I had to have blood tests first to make sure I was safe to be around my new indoor kitty siblings.

I have sooo much more to tell you but I'm getting tired. These 5 little ones exhaust me. I have been malnourished and am really small and skinny. Somehow I got a big scab on my nose but mom put medicine on it and it's almost all better. I'm eating 6 meals a day now! WooHoo! So I'm going to end this first entry of my blog. I hope you'll come back to see me and my babies and learn of all our adventures. We would like more friends. Thanks for caring enough to read and for making me feel more important in life.
